ITINERARY:
Wed. June 10   USA DEPARTURE

Be at the Newark airport at least 4 hours prior to departure for your international check-in procedures. Meals and in-flight services are per airline policies. NOTE: It is possible that the itinerary may be adjusted per discretion of the guide and tour leader.

Thurs., June 11   ARRIVE TEL AVIV

Region: Coast of Sharon
Arrive Tel Aviv this morning. Proceed through passport control (keep the white entry paper in passport). Meet your guide outside in the group parking lot. Proceed to Mt. Carmel to view the Galilee and rehearse Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18) Lunch. Continue to our Kibbutz Guest House, Nachsholim, beside the tel of ancient Dor on the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy time on the beach and a swim in the lagoon.

Fri., June 12  TO SEA OF GALILEE

Region: Coast of Sharon, Jezreel Valley, Sea of Galilee
Visit Caesarea Maritima, including the site of the Herodian harbor, Pilate's house, the stadium, and the aqueduct. Proceed to Megiddo. Here we shall explore the background of the prophecy concerning Armageddon (the hill (Ar) of Megiddo). We shall then cross the country to the Arbel cliff, which affords a magnifi cent view from the west over the Sea of Galilee. The adventurous may climb down the face of the cliff with the help of cables affi xed to the rock. Lodging at the Sea of Galilee.

Sat., June 13  SEA CIRCLE TRIP

Region: Sea of Galilee
Today centers around the Sea of Galilee, visiting the sites of Jesus’ ministry. Visiting Capernaum then to the Mt. of Beatitudes (Matthew 5-7), followed by the black basalt town of Chorazin. After lunch (optional St. Peter’s fish) we shall view the remains of a fishing boat from Jesus' day. From here we shall spend an hour on the lake in a wooden boat modeled after the one we have seen. We shall end the day with baptisms. This evening we will go to Tiberias for jewelry and diamond shopping.

Sun., June 14  SEPPHORIS, NAZARETH

Region: Lower Galilee, Sea of Galilee
Sleep in or arise very early to participate in a morning archeological dig (if available). After lunch we journey to beautiful Sepphoris, which is a stunning example of a mixed (Jewish-Gentile) city; it was the capital of Galilee when Jesus was growing to manhood four miles away in Nazareth. Then we continue to Nazareth where Jesus spent his childhood. We continue to a viewing spot, from which one sees the site of the ancient village on one side and the Jezreel Plain and Mt. Tabor on the other. Return to lodging at the Sea of Galilee for a time of relaxation.

Mon., June 15  UPPER JORDAN

Region: Upper Jordan, Sea of Galilee
Today we visit Hazor, by far the land’s largest Canaanite city, destroyed by Joshua and rebuilt by Solomon. We drive north to Tel Dan. Here we shall walk through the nature reserve at the headwaters of the Jordan, then visit the ruins, including the high place built at Dan by Jeroboam, son of Nebat (I Kings 12). We then proceed to Banias (Caesarea Philippi), recounting Peter’s Confession (Matthew 16) at the foot of Mt. Hermon. Nearby at Kibbutz HaGoshrim we shall have a chance to experience the Jordan in another way, letting its current carry us in rubber boats. (Some may prefer instead to use the kibbutz swimming pool for a fee.) We return to our lodging. This evening we will have a candlelight service on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.

Tues., June 16  BETH SHEAN, JOURNEY TO JERUSALEM

Region: Jerusalem
Depart for Beth Shean for an overview. On to visit Jericho, the world’s oldest city, whose walls succumbed to the blast of the rams’ horns. Our hearts will thrill as we drive “up to Jerusalem” to the Mt. of Olives for the city orientation. Continuing to orient ourselves in history and locale, we will visit the Israel Museum with the outdoor model of Jerusalem (scale 1:50) as it may have looked in 66 AD, just before the Jewish revolt against Rome.

Wed., June 17  JERUSALEM

Region: Jerusalem
(Note: Most of this day is on foot.) Arriving at the Mt of Olives, we descend the traditional Palm Sunday Road, visiting the cave and Garden of Gethsemane. We then cross the Kidron Valley and ascend to St. Anne’s Church and the Pools of Bethesda. We continue with the Via Dolorosa as far as the Holy Sepulcher, getting acquainted with the Old City. We lunch on falafel and such near the Holy Sepulcher. After visiting the Holy Sepulcher, we leave the Old City through the Jaffa Gate. Tonight, our bus takes us on a drive around the city walls and through the city for a beautiful night tour.

Thurs., June 18  JERUSALEM, BETHLEHEM

Region: Jerusalem, Bethlehem
We ascend the Temple Mount with the Dome of the Rock. We then descend to the Western Wall and plaza to enjoy the Bar Mitzvah celebrations. After eating in the Old City, we visit Warren’s shaft, the ancient water system, and those who wish will wade through Hezekiah’s Tunnel to the newly discovered Pool of Siloam (John 9:7). (Bring flashlights, bathing suits and footwear that will not slip off in the current.) We conclude the day at the Holocaust History Museum, Yad VaShem.

Fri., June 19  DEAD SEA, MASADA

Region: Judean Wilderness, Dead Sea
We leave early to explore the Herodion, a mountain whose top third was built by Herod as his palace, fortress and recently discovered tomb, under which he founded a city. We cut back to Bethlehem, the ancient town where David and Jesus were born. After visiting the Church of the Nativity, we shall drive to Shepherds’ Fields. Then we take time at one of the Bethlehem shops, famous for olive wood, jewelry and mother-of-pearl. We will also stop at Bethlehem Bible College and the Bethlehem Hospital (BASR) to renew ministry friendships. Return to Jerusalem.

Sat. June 20  JERUSALEM FREE DAY

Region: Jerusalem
FREE DAY! Shop in the Old City, or choose from many interesting places on your “Places to Go and Things to Do” list, after checking to be sure that they are open on Sunday. (The Israel Museum is closed.) Rest is recommended!

Sun., June 21  JERUSALEM FREE DAY

Another FREE DAY! Worship at Jerusalem Alliance Church (Arab), Christ Church inside the Jaffa Gate, or any church you choose. (Messianic worship will also be listed.) Shop in the Old City, or choose from many interesting places on your Places to Go and Things to Do list – after checking to be sure they are open on Sabbath. (Messianic Congregation is available for worship.)

Mon., June 22  JERUSALEM

Region: Jerusalem
Depart from Jerusalem to Masada, motoring beside the Dead Sea to the fortress. Arrive topside via cable car to visit Masada, amid Herodian grandeur, and hear the story of the Jewish revolt against Rome. We continue on to Ein Gedi and its beautiful landscape and hike to the waterfall. We stop briefl y at Qumran to view the cave where most of the Dead Sea scrolls were found. Tonight enjoy a Farewell Dinner (8:00 p.m.). Also included will be the gift exchange with your secret prayer partner.

Tues., June 23  JERUSALEM

Region: Jerusalem
Begin this morning with the Ophel excavations, including the Temple steps. Visit the Herodian mansion and other sites in the Jewish Quarter. Proceed to the Garden Tomb for a private tour and communion. Transfer to the Tel Aviv Airport to check-in for your midnight departure to the USA.

Wed., June 24  ARRIVE USA

Fly while reliving the experiences of having walked and learned the Lands of the Bible—our new HOME. Arrive in the USA at Newark and proceed through customs.

Tues., June 23  Jerusalem to Jordan

Region: Jerusalem
This evening, we leave Jerusalem and cross over to Jordan. We travel to Amman to overnight.

Wed., June 24  Jerash & Petra

Region: Gilead, Moab, Edom
This morning we continue to ancient Jerash, the largest of the Decapolis cities. Here we view the city with its theater, temples, and hippodrome. We continue to Aenon (Bethany Beyond the Jordan). Aenon is a name that was found on the mosaic map of Madaba. The Bible mentions that John baptized at Aenon. Elijah’s Hill is on Tel Kharar. The gospel (John 1:28) speaks of “Bethany Beyond Jordan.” John 10:40 refers to Jesus escaping from the hostile crowds in Jerusalem and “went away again across the Jordan to the place where John at fi rst baptized.” There is “traditional” and growing archeological evidence that this area is where the Children of Israel crossed into the Promised Land, Elijah was “taken up,” and where John the Baptist ministered and baptized Jesus. Continue our journey on the desert highway to the ancient Nabatean city of Petra to overnight.

Thurs., June 25  Petra / Dead Sea

Region: Gilead, Moab, Edom
Rise early to explore Petra, the Rose City. Walk or ride for 2 1/2 miles r.t. to explore the Nabatean ruins and Monastery. (Optional: one may ascend the High Place of Sacrifi ce.). Continue to Mt. Nebo to enjoy Moses’ view of the Promised Land. Here we will see a large model of the Madaba mosaic map on the fl oor of a new building. Souvenir shopping will be available. Drive 30 minutes to the amazing 5 star Movenpick Hotel/Spa on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea. Spa orientation before dinner.

Fri., June 26  Jordan / Dead Sea

Region: Dead Sea
The entire day is at leisure beside the Dead Sea. One may choose to use the facilities and spa services available at this famous deluxe spa or simply rest! This is a wonderful experience!

Sat., June 27  Journey to Jerusalem

Region: Jordan, Jerusalem

Depart for the Jordanian boarder and say goodbye to Jordan and cross the Allenby Bridge at 11:00 AM. Travel back to Jerusalem, where we will take time for lunch, leisurely enjoy Jerusalem, have dinner and prepare for the journey to the Tel Aviv Airport. We take the late night flight to USA—dreaming of our new HOME!
