The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) for U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been updated. WHTI will require travelers to present a passport or other approved secure document showing citizenship and identity for all entry into the United States by land and sea, effective June 1, 2009. For full details see www.dhs.gov.
The Secure Flight Initiative will allow the Transportation Security Administration to assume responsibility for conducting pre-flight comparison of passenger information to terrorist watch lists. It will match name, date of birth and gender information for each passenger against government lists of known and suspected terrorists. After matching this information, the TSA will give the airline permission to print a boarding pass. To facilitate this initiative, your travel agent will be asking for this information in the near future. You have the right to decline to provide these details, but you may face secondary screening or a delay at the airport - and you could be denied boarding. MTS TRAVEL will communicate complete details to all our clients as the process is refined and impletmented.
USAir has reinstated free non-alcoholic beverage service on domestic flights as of March 1, 2009.
American Airlines has suspended coach meal service on flights from the U.S.A.to Central America and the Dominican Republic, effective March 1, 2009. Food will be offered for sale.
