Just Passing Through?
Options for a Long Overseas Airport Layover
Your British Airways flight arrives into Heathrow at 7:10 am -but your connecting flight to Nairobi departs at 9:10 pm. What will you do with yourself for over 12 hours?

You could take a quick tour of London-Buckingham Palace, The Tower, Westminster Abbey. Or, you could spend half a day in the airport lounge, trying to catch some sleep in between the arrival and departure announcements.

Neither of these alternatives appeal to you? Maybe "dayroom" accommodations are the answer.

Some international airports house hotels with rooms set aside for transiting passengers who must wait a number of hours for their next flight. In other places, hotels near the airport accommodate guests during daylight hours. Some provide bed and bath for six hours or so; others for as much as 12 hours. MTS TRAVEL can book many dayrooms in advance. Some accept walk-ins only, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Prices are usually quite reasonable-less than you'd pay for a comfortable room booked overnight. Some hotels even charge the same rate for a single, double, or triple room.

Free shuttle service is sometimes available for those dayrooms not near the international terminals or off airport premises. Depending upon your nationality, you may need a transit visa for certain countries if your stay exceeds a prescribed time limit. Generally, U.S. citizens do not need visas for European countries and for many Asian countries-if their airport stay does not exceed 72 hours. Ask your MTS TRAVEL consultant to verify this for you when bookings are made.

Listed below are some popular transit cities and the dayroom accommodations available. For rates-and to inquire about other properties at or near worldwide international airports-contact your MTS TRAVEL consultant.
