In 1971, as business with the larger U.S. based mission and church organizations continued to expand, the company opened an office near the United Nations complex in New York which became a flagship service center. Ten years later the office relocated just outside Manhattan to Bloomfield, New Jersey.
During the 1970s, the international offices, including Canada, were established as separate companies. Some offices that were established by Menno Travel Service continue to operate today as separate businesses, or in some cases, with variations of the parent name.
From this same period and continuing into the 1990s, MTS TRAVEL became the largest single company distributing international mission fares for the program operated by Raptim Transport Services of Holland. In 1995, the company partnered in a joint venture, World InService, to continue the focus on development of specialized mission travel products and services. Today, MTS TRAVEL continues to use its negotiation expertise that now provides mission travelers service between all continents utilizing the full range of U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin American-based carriers.

The decade of the 80's began with a move to significantly reorganize the company through development of a new corporate entity and an expanded focus on products and services in specialized markets.
Ownership of the company was restructured to more directly tie responsibility to corporate performance and the consequential enhancement of customer value. Prior to 1980, ownership of MTS TRAVEL was held by the Mennonite Central Committee, other church agencies, and individual parties. While majority interest in the company continued to be held by the Board of Directors, now employees were invited to acquire shares.
As part of the re-organization, the company split into separate operating units: The parent company, Menno Travel Service, Inc. retained the Akron (now Ephrata), Pennsylvania and New York operations while the Goshen and Newton offices became Menno Travel Service of Indiana and Kansas, respectively. A trade name change followed in 1983 to establish a new identity and meet the agreed ownership divestiture of church agencies: Menno Travel Service began trading as MTS TRAVEL.
The decade brought renewed focus on the parent company's founding commitment to religious and mission-related travel with the merger of existing U.S. offices and the establishment of new ones. The company became more regionally anchored with the inclusion of service centers in Claremont, California; Seattle, Washington; Wheaton, Illinois; Colorado Springs; and Jacksonville, Florida. New locations attracted additional personnel for enhanced expertise and regional experience, thereby enabling MTS TRAVEL to fulfill a widening array of customer needs from an expanded scope of products and services.
